In 2014, one year before COP 21 in Paris, I realized that no Moral Right is granted to one of the major actors of Life on our planet: the Tree.
On May 18, 2019, the Blue Butterflies Company sent the petition for the Universal Declaration of Tree Rights and the International Convention on Tree Rights to the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the European Commission, and the European Parliament.
Since 2020, the Universal Declaration of Tree Rights has continued its international development. Representatives of the Declaration are now active in Senegal, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Ireland, Canada, the United States, Belgium, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The work of the Assembly of the Tree, the development of the International Convention on Tree Rights, and the initial institutional recognitions bear witness to this constantly evolving dynamic.
To date, more than 87,000 “Forest Guardians” have signed the petition.
Your membership and donations allow us to continue the development of the Universal Declaration of Tree Rights, the International Convention on Tree Rights, and the Assembly of the Tree. They also enable us to strengthen our collaborations, develop our communication tools, and support initiatives that implement these principles.
